			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>How do golf and fitness go together?  Why do I need golf fitness training?  What difference would a golf fitness program make to my golf game? <br/><br/>I can tell you all about that from what I have seen with my friend and golfing buddy, Dooley Duffer.  <br/><br/>Dooley had been away from the game for some years.  His career and family took priority over his time and golf, although he loved it, it just would not fit into his schedule. As he advanced in his career he became less physically active. He even moved to a management position so time in the office was nothing like the work he had been doing. <br/><br/>His body began to show his change in lifestyle. Don’t tell him I told you this, but his middle seemed to grow faster than his salary. Bet you know how that story goes, huh? <br/><br/>He had only played very occasionally during that time. So I don’t think he realized how much being out of shape affected his golf swing performance. <br/><br/>Then Dooley changed companies and began to play golf regularly again thanks to his new boss who had recently taken up the game. With his kids grown Dooley now had more time to devote to golf and it only took one round back on the course to re-ignite the passion which had burned so brightly in days gone by. <br/><br/>As he began to play more often his physical limitations became a more and more of an issue. He struggled at times to finish a round; scores would escalate due to inconsistent swings, loss of concentration and general fatigue.  He would even huff and puff when walking up hills in spite of always riding a cart. I can remember having to wait for him to catch his breath before he could putt on elevated greens. No chance he could walk when he played. <br/><br/>Then over a few weeks I began to notice improvement in Dooley’s game. Less and less of the struggles I had noticed before and more successful golf shots, better concentration and less fatigue. He even began saying he wanted to play an extra 9 holes! <br/><br/>You see, conditioning is critical to your overall golf performance. And poor physical conditioning will certainly ruin your golf performance. Just ask Dooley about that. <br/><br/>What was Dooley’s secret?  Had he hired a golf fitness trainer? Did he use golf fitness videos? What had he done to improve his fitness for golf and his golf handicap? <br/><br/>Turns out he had not done any of those things exactly.  He said he found this golf fitness eBook called “Ultimate Golf Fitness Guide” by Mike Pedersen. Granted the LPGA player has more refined and efficient swing mechanics, but the body is the same. <br/><br/>As a result of the body being the same, the principles and structure of a golf fitness program for any woman is similar. Before discussing the specifics of a program for women it is necessary to understand a few important principles. The first principle to understand about a fitness program is sports specific. Sports specific is a term describing the type of training utilized in a golf fitness program. Sport specific training simply states the program utilized by the woman athlete is geared towards improving them in their chosen sport. <br/><br/>A second principle closely related to sports specific training is cross specificity training. Cross specificity training is the utilization of exercises to develop the woman golfer in the positions, movements, and actions incorporated in the golf swing. The goal of cross specificity training is a transfer of training effect to the field of competition. Simply stated, a transfer of training effect is the ability of exercises utilized to train the female golfer having a direct benefit on their performance on the course. <br/><br/>For example, golf flexibility exercises will attempt to improve the flexibility within the player. As the player improves their flexibility parameters in relation to the swing. She may be able to create a bigger shoulder turn, which may increase the distance of her drives. This benefit is an example of a transfer of training effect onto the golf course. In summary, the three principles that assist in the development of a golf fitness program for women are; sports specific, cross specificity training, and transfer of training effect. Many additional principles exist that are used as guidelines in the development of a fitness program, but these are three essential ones. <br/><br/>Outside of the guidelines governing the development of a golf fitness program for woman. Specific physical components within the body are needed within the body to execute the golf swing correctly. Remember, it is the body performing the biomechanics of the swing. In order for the swing to be executed correctly and efficiently certain levels of flexibility, balance, strength, endurance, and power are required. These are the actual physical components within the golfer a fitness program looks to develop and enhance in relation to the golf swing. <br/><br/>The swing requires the body to move through a long range of motion for an efficient movement to occur. Much of this is contingent upon the ability of the core to coil and uncoil during the swing. In order for these two biomechanical actions to occur efficiently, the development of proper flexibility in the core is necessary. <br/><br/>We utilize flexibility exercises that are cross-specific to the movements in the swing to develop flexibility. The majority of these flexibility exercises are rotational and dynamic. <br/><br/>The swing is a dynamic movement, indicating that the body is in constant motion. It is crucial to develop a range of motion in a dynamic rather than a static (not moving) method. The goal of these exercises is to create a range of motion in the core for the golf swing. Flexibility is the first physical component requiring development within the woman golfer. <br/><br/>One needs to maintain, dynamically, a stable body throughout the entire swing. We have all hit balls at the range and know what happens when we do not stay balanced during the swing. Improving the balance and stabilization capabilities of the core translates into a better golf swing. Better Balance equals a Better Swing. Even subtle movements are consistency killers; thus we need to develop and maintain balance for a consistent swing. <br/><br/>Balance is connected to the efficiency of the nervous system and strength of the muscular system working together. The development of greater balance in the core and swing is the result of two types of specific exercise. The first challenges the nervous system creating greater efficiency. The second are exercises that create increased strength in the core. The combination of these two types of exercises permit for the body to maintain posture, promote efficient weight transfer, and create power in the swing. The result is a more consistent, accurate, and powerful swing. This is the second component included with a golf fitness program. <br/><br/>Remember that the golf swing is a repetitive movement. The mechanics of the swing repeat with each stroke. This process can be repeated hundreds of times in a round of golf. Ever go to the range and hit two buckets of balls? At some point the body starts to tire, and shots scatter. <br/><br/>Proper endurance training enables us to repeat a sound swing. People engage in sports for specific recreation-related reasons like entertainment, competition, or self-satisfaction. Because sports involve physical activity, most fitness experts and health care professionals know that sports is one way to stay fit and healthy. Sports fitness, as opposed to &#8220;exercise&#8221; or &#8220;physical fitness,&#8221; however, involves developing a skill or ability. Sports fitness is an opportunity for personal growth.<br />
Sports enthusiasts may be more likely to maintain a healthy lifestyle (although some would question that assertion) because of the inherent discipline and physical demands. But sports fitness can also mean weight loss, better mobility, greater energy, and a host of the things we use to describe good health. Sports fitness is a character-building pursuit.<br />
Sports do teach people to value their health. Without health, they couldn&#8217;t maintain the energy and vitality necessary to participate. Especially if they are in professional sports, their livelihood may depend on their fitness and health. Sports fitness is a lifestyle.<br />
Let&#8217;s assume, for a minute, that you are a person who needs more exercise to get or stay physically fit and healthy. You have many options: gyms, health centers, home exercise. You can do aerobic exercise routines, undertake a weight training program, or spend hours on an exercise bike or treadmill. Those are all beneficial activities. But some of us find them boring. We won&#8217;t stick to them because we&#8217;re not having fun. Sports fitness is fun!<br />
One way to get healthy and have fun at the same time is to pursue sports fitness. You can get your workout on the basketball court or baseball field. You can enter swimming competitions or run marathons. These exercise routines involve other people, interaction, and FUN! So, let&#8217;s say you&#8217;ve decided to get your exercise through sports fitness.<br />
There are some things you should know about things you can do to assure sports fitness is a safe, healthy program for you:<br />
1. Get a Lot of Fluids<br />
We can go days, even months, without food. But we can&#8217;t live without frequent drinking water. It&#8217;s the most important nutrient we&#8217;ll ever consume. And when you&#8217;re engaged in sports, you perspire more, losing that precious liquid gold. In fact, if you lose too many fluids without replacing them, you could have very serious health problems. In the extreme, you could die.<br />
So when you&#8217;re engaged in strenuous exercise, you should always drink water to replace what you&#8217;re losing through sweat. Some sports involve losing fluids so rapidly that it would not be possible to replace them with water alone. In fact, drinking too much plain water at once can lead to a toxic reaction (water intoxication) due to an unhealthy balance of electrolytes in the body. To avoid dehydration and water intoxication while playing sports, experts recommend sports drinks. They come in three categories.<br />
Isotonic sports drinks contain a similar balance of water and other nutrients as in the human body, including 6-8% sugar. Hypertonic sports drinks contain less water and more sugar than the human body. Hypotonic sports drinks contain more water and less sugar than the human body. Most of the sports drinks on the market are isotonic.<br />
No matter which you choose, sports drinks have two important ingredients you won&#8217;t find in plain water: carbohydrates and electrolytes. Carbohydrates help keep energy levels up, and a proper balance of electrolytes (made up of sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, chloride, phosphate, and hydrogen carbonate) is essential to well-being. Drinking a lot of fluids is essential for sports fitness.<br />
2. Eat more Fruits and Vegetables<br />
The strenuous exercise involved in sports rapidly depletes the body of essential vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables contain essential nutrients. When you&#8217;re engaged in sports fitness program, make it a habit every day to eat a dark green vegetable, a yellow or orange fruit or vegetable, a red fruit or vegetable, beans or nuts, and a citrus fruit like oranges. Sports fitness involves a healthy, balanced diet.<br />
3. Protect your Bones<br />
Obviously, people involved in sports fitness are at a higher risk of injuries, including broken bones. The more you can do to keep your bones strong, the better off you will be. Be sure your diet includes calcium sources like sardines, tofu, and dairy products, etc. You might also consider adding a calcium supplement to your daily routine. Not only will your bones withstand the bumps and crashes you get on the court or field, you&#8217;ll be getting a head start in fending off the dreaded osteoporosis.<br />
4. Warm Up and Cool Down<br />
You may strain a muscle or fall prey to another type of injury if you&#8217;re body isn&#8217;t loose and limber when you start playing any kind of rigorous sport. Like runners, stretching routines are a great way to get limber. And more active warm-ups get your heart rate going gradually.<br />
After the game is over, don&#8217;t go straight to the clubhouse or bar. Do a few cool down exercises to gradually release tension and transition to less activity. You have fewer sore muscles and less tightness if you do. Sports fitness involves responsible preparation and follow-through.<br />

In this excerpt, Craig Pepin Donat shares on the experiences that led him to write The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie.The Healthiest Year of Your Life with Craig Pepin Donat, a certified personal trainer and author of The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie.Kevin: Good evening, everyone. So Craig, you&#8217;ve been in the fitness industry for over 26 years and with that, I imagine comes a bit of wisdom. Why don&#8217;t you start with your story and how you&#8217;ve gotten to where you are now?Craig: Sure Kevin. Well, first of all, I started out in the fitness industry as a personal trainer making $3.50 an hour.Kevin: Wow.Craig: So I&#8217;ve been in it for awhile and I grew through the ranks in the fitness industry to the executive level. I was the president of two of the largest fitness organizations in the United States. I was the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the largest chain of fitness clubs in the world operating in 11 countries. I also successfully owned and operated my own fitness company. I&#8217;ve visited 30 countries and evaluated health and fitness trends all over Russia, Asia, Europe. I&#8217;ve been to dozens of fitness conventions, purchased millions of dollars worth of equipment, supplements and other health and fitness related products and I&#8217;ve also had the ability to train thousands of health and fitness professionals around the world and help them to help other people improve their lives. So this really kind of led me to where I am today, which is to where I just got to the point where I want to do something more and that&#8217;s why I wrote my book The Big Fat Healthy Fitness Lie and founded Fit Advocate.com so that I could create a platform to protect and enhance the lives and health and fitness consumers.Kevin: Now you just mentioned your book, The Big Fat Health and Fitness Lie which I absolutely love. What is the big fat fitness lie. Let&#8217;s just lay it on the table.Craig: Why mince words? Let&#8217;s dig right in. The lie is that there are these billion dollar industries out there getting richer while we get sicker and fatter and with all the so-called solutions available for losing weight and improving our health, we are literally in the worse shape in the history of modern civilization. There&#8217;s big profit in sickness and in fatness, and a lot of times people question that and they think, &#8220;Oh, well we live in the United States, we&#8217;re in great health and we have the best health care system&#8221; which is a complete fallacy. Here&#8217;s an interesting fact that people should be aware of, we&#8217;re approaching some 300 million people in the U.S. and we have every year 200 million diseases that are diagnosed for conditions that could be prevented with simple lifestyle changes.Kevin: Wow.Craig: And we spend in the United States, 270 billion dollars on 3.7 billion prescriptions written to, not to cure anything because there&#8217;s really very few cures in modern medicine, medicine is meant mostly to mask our symptoms. So taking into our bodies a lot of toxic chemicals and you know there&#8217;s so much confusion out there and misinformation about health and fitness. So there&#8217;s a huge opportunity, unfortunately, for people to make big money on the lack of knowledge that people have about how to lose weight, improve their health, get in shape and live better. So millions of people are out there paying thousands of dollars that have no chance of helping them achieve their goal and that&#8217;s really the big fat lie.Kevin: And let me just ask you this, you&#8217;ve been on the other side, you&#8217;ve been a part of the industry that is making a lot of money in the fitness clubs and the organizations and everything. When did you suddenly say, &#8220;Hey, you know, maybe I need to educate people about this.&#8221;Craig: Well, first of all I never felt that the club industry was a bad industry.Kevin: Okay.Craig: And in my book I still am a big proponent of joining a fitness center for the average person, there are, of course, some caveat of how to get a quality club. I have an article on the ten worst tricks for the fitness industry. So I try to expose the things that I think are bad but there&#8217;s also a lot of good too, but what I did notice while I was operating all of these clubs and trying to help people is that I would talk to thousands of consumers, face to face. For a big part of my career, my job was to get out there and help, work with people in the field, club operators, managers, sales people, fitness staff members, personal trainers, to talk to them about how to help people make decisions that are good for them and the guiding principle, of course was always don&#8217;t focus on making money, focus on helping people and you will make money as a natural result, as a natural bi-produce of helping people. That&#8217;s always been one of my guiding principles, but in speaking with all these consumers, you find that the average person spends thousands and thousands of dollars on products and services that have no chance of helping them. They spend hours and hours of wasted time on information that will never help them improve their health or change their lives. So I got tired, frustrated and really kind of outraged at all of the quick fix solutions that are out there that people jump from one to the other and without really understanding the true cause of why they&#8217;re in such poor health. So I wanted to try to educate them on all of the things, the lies the deceptions while also trying to give them simple solutions for how to improve their health, how to lose weight, how to get in shape, how to live better, how to feel better with no tricks and no gimmicks for the rest of their lives. That&#8217;s really what the big fat health and fitness lie is all about and that&#8217;s really what Fit Advocate website is all about.Kevin: And you take a different approach in your book as opposed to a lot of the other books that I&#8217;ve read about health and fitness and it&#8217;s related to addiction. You say addiction feeds this whole lie. What do you mean by this?Craig: Well, many people live a self-inflicted toxic lifestyle that destroys their health and feeds this lie. So what do I mean by that? Well, the definition of toxic, first of all, is poison and in our society we are surrounded by poisons, in our air, it&#8217;s in our water, some of them we can&#8217;t avoid and many of them we can, however. A lot of these poisons, they&#8217;re not going to kill us today, but instead what they do is they slowly and quietly deteriorate and destroy our health.<br />
There&#8217;s two specific types of poisons or toxins that I talk about that create these health problems. The first, of course is chemical exposures. There are thousands of untested chemical combinations in our food supply to improve taste, texture, color or to extend shelf life. There are low calorie,low carb foods laced with toxic sweeteners that has contributed to obesity and diabetes. We&#8217;ve been conditioned to believe that sodium fluoride, for example is good for our teeth. Yet it&#8217;s a known chemical waste bi-product of the aluminum and phosphate fertilizer industry. This chemical has been pumped into our water supply and put into our dental hygiene products for years but fluoridation has been flatly rejected by many developed countries because of the dangers and the lack of really any scientific evidence of any health benefit. Beyond that, we have toxic chemicals in our household products, our cleaning products, personal hygiene products. Fruits and vegetables have been treated with herbicides and pesticides. Chickens and cows are fed ground chicken and beef. Then pumped full of antibiotics to stave off disease from the horrific conditions in which they live and where they&#8217;re slaughtered. So we have all of those, you know, all of this chemical toxicity. That&#8217;s the first concern.<br />
The second is the biggest toxic exposure which is related to stress, and people don&#8217;t realize this but as much as 80% of all disease is the result of stress and having had the ability to travel all over the world and visit, you know, I believe I&#8217;ve been to over 40 countries now, you find that we in America are the most stressed out country on the planet. We work more than any other activity other than sleep. Just think about our normal lives, we wake up every day and we&#8217;re running on empty from morning to night. We&#8217;ve got the pressures at work, at home, the challenges sustaining some sort of happy relationship with our significant others. We&#8217;ve got the demands of the kids, trying to pay the bills. We have all of the negativity in the news. We&#8217;re all trying to live the American dream which is predicated on financial freedom, but the truth is only a fraction of people out there actually ever realize the American dream and the rest of us are simply trying to get by, and, you know, we&#8217;re buried in a mountain of debt. All of these things add up to a lot of worry and stress and to cope with this stress, what do we do? We drink, we smoke, we take drugs, we over eat, we eat the wrong foods and we spend hours in front of the television or surfing the internet. All of these activities, unfortunately make us fat, lazy and out of shape, and what happens is this poor health that&#8217;s created from this self addictive lifestyle creates, and opens the door for these big fat health and fitness lies. One of them is companies that market, manufacture and market and sale products that have no chance of helping us and then, of course, the worse thing is when we look to synthetic chemical compounds, prescription drugs, as the first line of defense to handle our self inflicted health problems. So we really have a lot of issues that we have to deal with in order to be healthy, but people need to understand the basis of where it starts, the cause.Kevin: Yes. How does someone take that sort of addiction or quote unquote addictive personality and turn that into fitness success?Craig: Well the first thing they have to do is identify it.Kevin: Yes.Craig: You have to realize it. Here&#8217;s, here&#8217;s a fact that&#8217;s pretty important that people should know about, the number one reason that people give for not exercising regularly is that they don&#8217;t have enough time, okay. Yet the average American watches four and a half hours of television a day. So there&#8217;s an issue there with priority and people have to understand that time is the most important and the most valuable thing that we have because once it&#8217;s gone you can&#8217;t get it back. If you want to improve your health, you have to make time to do all of the things that are necessary to improve and enhance your health and your life and it&#8217;s not just exercise but it is one of the key components. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>  <br/><br/>I want to share with you just how I have been successful in achieving outstanding results with fitness and fat loss with my clients for many years without any fad exercise gadgets or crazy diets. If you really want to find out the only true way to &#8216;Get Fit Fast&#8217; then read on and I will tell you precisely how to do it, here and now. <br/><br/>First things first, the most important thing you must do to ensure you get fit as fast as you can is to be clear about exactly what you want to get fit for. You must a have a visibly clear goal as to where you want to be. You must remain focused and determined to succeed. How can you expect to get fit if you have no idea where you are heading? <br/><br/>If I ask you this question, it might help you to realize that getting fit fast really does depend on what your own interpretation of fitness is. Do you think you would get fit faster if your goal was to be able to climb 10 flights of stairs without stopping compared with climbing K2, the world’s second highest mountain? Of course you would. The task of climbing 10 flights of stairs is much less of a challenge than climbing K2; therefore if you where training to climb mount K2, you would reach and overtake the desired fitness level to climb the stairs well before you are ready to tackle one of the highest and arguably the most dangerous mountain in the world. Hopefully this has made you realize that ‘fitness’ is an extremely broad term and people must understand that in order to ‘Get Fit Fast’ they must be very specific about what it is they want to achieve. <br/><br/>So back to the original question, How to Get Fit Fast depends greatly up on your current level of base fitness and the desired goal ahead. The next thing to think about is the relevancy of your training. The example above gives two similar goals, in respect that they both involve climbing of sorts. One much more technical and challenging than the other, but the training would be some what similar to start with. <br/><br/>Let&#8217;s look at another example; if you compare a Power Lifter with a long distance runner, initially you would say that both are fit. This is correct to say that both are fit for their respective sporting disciplines, however if both were to swap roles, you could say that both would struggle to perform well at each others sports. <br/><br/>These are classic examples of people who are fit for what they do. The training path to reach the desired level of fitness for each sport is completely different. So you need to make sure that the training you do to improve your fitness is relevant to your final goal, otherwise you will never get there. <br/><br/>Take it from me you have to have a very good level of base fitness to succeed at either of these sports. Most people&#8217;s idea of a base level of fitness is to enable them to cope with the stresses and strains of their daily lifestyle. This might include, tending the garden, leisure walking, running for the bus and playing with the kids. <br/><br/>To get fit as fast as you can follow these 7 simple steps; <br/><br/>1. Assess where you&#8217;re at;  Ask you&#8217;re self why you want to get fit. Most people decide to get fit for one of 3 reasons;  a) Improve physical appearance  b) Health reasons or quality of life  c) For a particular sport, challenge or task <br/><br/>Which category do you fall into? <br/><br/>2. Set yourself a goal;  Make sure there is light at the end of the tunnel.  When will you know you have reached your goal? What do you need to do to get there?  If your goal is weight loss, then what is your ideal weight? If you are training for a  specific event, such as a running race, what time or distance do you need to achieve.  If it&#8217;s for health reasons, you may wish to reduce your blood pressure or cholesterol. <br/><br/>3. Eat healthy;  Your diet must be specific to your goal and your exercise plan. Make sure you are eating  the right food and at the right times to get the most out of your exercise program.  A poor diet equals low energy and poor performance, ask any successful sports person.  My advice is don&#8217;t go on a diet. You&#8217;ll just end up hungry, de-motivated and give up. <br/><br/>If weight loss is your goal, then start by making one small but significant change to your  diet every week. For example if you were to cut out 1 tsp of sugar from your 2 cups of tea  or coffee per day, then that&#8217;s a saving of 14,500 calories in one year. That amounts to a  loss of over 4lbs of body fat. Do you see where I&#8217;m coming from? Small changes can make a big difference when you add them all together. <br/><br/>4. Exercise;  If you are new to exercise and think you don&#8217;t have the time, and then make a commitment to start exercising for 5 minutes per day. Do you think you can handle that? Next week, increase it to 10 minutes and so on until you are doing 30 minutes per day. You&#8217;ll be amazed how much fitter you are just in that short time. <br/><br/>Choose an exercise activity appropriate to your goal, but make sure it&#8217;s a balanced program that covers all the major components of fitness. A balanced exercise program should include; CV training, for aerobic &#038; anaerobic fitness. Resistance training, for muscular endurance, strength and power. Flexibility for range of movement and posture. Balance and coordination. <br/><br/>If you are not sure where to start then consider these;  1. Enjoy what you do  2. Balance your exercise to include CV, Resistance and Flexibility  3. Make your exercise specific to your goal  4. Make it a lifestyle change not a chore  5. Make it challenging, but not impossible <br/><br/>For the best results and to get fitter faster, then consult an exercise professional to  design a program specifically for you. <br/><br/>5. Monitor;  Monitor your progress; it will help to motivate you to stop you losing interest. Once you  see that you are making steady progress towards your goal it will keep you focused. <br/><br/>6. Motivate;  One of the hardest things about starting a new fitness campaign is keeping on track. Try training with a friend or join a club to help keep you interested. Reward yourself every now and then with your favorite meal or treat. <br/><br/>7. Fitness for life;  Don&#8217;t just make a commitment to get fit for new year or holiday, make it a lifestyle change. Decide that you are going to make changes for life. <br/><br/>Last but not least if you can get to the point where fitness and healthy living becomes second nature and a natural routine then it&#8217;s the unhealthy things that start to become a chore! Remember if you practice anything enough you will do it without thinking about it and this is the state you need to aim for. One day you will come to realize, &#8216;this fitness stuff isn&#8217;t so bad after all&#8217;. <br/><br/></p>

<p>Most of us dream about enjoying amazing workout results by investing only minimal time and effort. Fitness infomercials are designed to create this fantasy, which lulls us into purchasing products that may not live up to their claims. </p>

<p>*are reasonably-priced, *are revolutionary and innovative, *cannot be found anywhere else, *can make life easier and better, and *produce immediate, transformational results. (3) </p>
