It is through this source that hazardous chemicals enter in the water and cause disease like cancer. Organic pollutants like dyes, salts, cyanides, suspended solids, greases, and oils are included in the industrial effluents. The monomethyl mercury carried along with the industrial effluents enters human body with water and causes brain damage.  Sometimes even direct deaths are being reported by drinking the water mixed with such industrial effluents.<br/><br/><strong>Silt:</strong> This is the source of pollution that pollutes the water at very initial stage. During silt, the soil or silt from the mountains gets carried along with the rain water and mixes with the ground water. This also happens during the process of deforestation.  This generally is not so hazardous because once the water gets deep these soil particles get deposited at the bottom and you get to drink clean water. In some cases only infecting microorganisms are observed in silt.<br/><br/><strong>Thermal wastes:</strong> Thermal pollution of the water doesn’t affect the humans, but the life under water is affected badly by it. The thermal and nuclear power stations use the large amount of water and then discharge in again with a very high temperature. The aquatic life is not able to adjust with the hot water and they die. Thus, it makes the water dirty.<br/><br/><strong>Sewage and domestic wastes:</strong> This is the cause of the maximum disease that affects the human health adversely. This source of water pollution includes soap and detergents, human excreta and urine, dung, and main source as sewage from house. Maximum microorganisms survive in this water and when it mixes with river water these microorganisms start multiplying. Once the person drinks he/she is surely to fall it due to this. Diseases like typhoid, jaundice, cholera, and dysentery are the most commonly observed disease caused by this type of water pollution.<br/><br/><strong>Radioactive substances: </strong>You need to be careful about these radioactive substances a lot because they enter your body and cause cancer. Radioactive substances are released during the atomic explosions. These radioactive isotopes mix with the water bodies and cause the pollution. This water pollution source is very rarely noted.<br/><br/><strong>Agricultural wastes: </strong>Nowadays the modern concept of agriculture is being utilized everywhere. This includes the usage of the many chemical pesticides and fertilizers. The crop yield is surely increased by it, but when these pesticides and fertilizers gets incorporated in the water bodies through irrigation, rainfall, and drainage they cause water pollution. Primarily they destroy the aquatic life. No fishes are able to survive in this polluted water. Those studies have pointed out some bottled water health concerns that challenged those claims of purity. For example, “distilled water” like Dasani, Aquafina or Nestle Pure Life extracted from city water is far from being healthy, since the oxidation is potentially harmful along with the fact that it can contain improper pH balances and ionization. There is also the plastic problem.<br/><br/><br/><br/>BOTTLED WATER HEALTH CONCERNS OF PLASTIC BOTTLES<br/><br/>Bottled water health concerns are mainly about the plastic bottles because when stored in hot or warm temperatures, chemicals may be leached into the water. Storing the water into the garage or near gas fumes could affect the smell and taste of the water. Bottled water health concerns are also justified because many people leave bottled water out in the car at high or low temperature facilitating the materials from the plastic to go into the water. <div><em><strong>Roseanna Leaton</strong> asked: </em><br/><br/><br/>I was chatting with a friend today who was commenting on the placebo effect and how most people only think about the positive effect of placebo, and turn a blind eye to how the placebo works just as powerful in a negative sense.<br/><br/>Anyone involved in the bio-tech industry, be they a scientist working in a pharmaceutical company or someone in the arena of drug approval at FDA, is aware that when executing trials on a new drug the placebo effect on average is a whopping 30%. This is true even when the effect is in relation to very real opioid-induced side effects, such as constipation. It is well known that opioids do have this rather annoying and uncomfortable side-effect. And yet when patients in a trial are studied as to the placebo effect of a new drug which is designed to prevent such constipation, a 30% placebo effect can still be seen.<br/><br/>Whilst many people expect a placebo effect in ailments which have a more mental aspect, such as anxiety or depression, fewer realize that the placebo effect can be observed just as powerfully in drug studies relating to almost all conditions. Thus the incredible power of one&#8217;s own mind is demonstrated in a very real and undeniable fashion. The placebo effect does not only work on the mind and mental &#8220;illness&#8221;; it works in a very physical sense. As I find myself repeatedly saying, the mind and body are intrinsically linked, and so it should come as no surprise that your attitude and expectations are reflected powerfully and unstoppably in your physical body.<br/><br/>Returning to my friend&#8217;s comment of earlier today, regarding people not thinking about placebo in its negative form, this powerful effect can also be very clearly observed in its effect upon human health. In an everyday sense you will notice in yourself that when you are feeling really happy, you stand taller, you walk with more of a bounce, and your mouth is likely to be upturned. Your body FEELS different when you are happy. By contrast, when you are feeling sad, your body actually FEELS heavier, and your mouth no longer curls upwards, your shoulders slump and your feet drag.<br/><br/>When you feel scared or fearful, your body reacts in a very dramatic manner, immediately switching into its &#8220;fight or flight&#8221; mode and we are all familiar with the feelings associated with this release of adrenalin throughout our physiology. We all know that this happens, we all accept it, and yet we do not tend to categorize it as a &#8220;placebo effect&#8221;. But this is what it is; it is the effect of your thoughts and expectations upon your body. We should all beware that every single negative thought we have will have an impact upon our physical health. The strength of the emotion attached to that negative thought will dictate the strength of the physical impact upon our health.<br/><br/>Negative thinking and negative expectancy doesn’t just impact upon day to day feelings. It doesn’t just pave the way to anxiety and depressive illness either. Each negative thought paves the way to very real physical disease.<br/><br/>For the sake of your health, you really cannot afford the luxury of allowing yourself to be negative in any way. It will always be relevant, despite what the media tells you about ‘new’, ‘improved’, ‘scientific’ and all the other gimmicky words that are only employed to impress you enough to buy something.<br/><br/>And, happily, natural health is currently enjoying the comeback it deserves.<br/><br/>To enjoy it, there are at least three really important aspects to address.<br/><br/>The first is your diet. There’s a saying that a quarter of what you eat keeps you alive. Three quarters of what you eat keeps your doctor alive. So if you eat a typical western diet of fast foods, canned drinks and sweets or chocolate, you know you’re heading for disaster.<br/><br/>A natural diet consists of lots of fresh fruit and vegetables, preferably raw. Raw isn’t essential, but will take you that extra mile. As long as at least 30% is raw, you’ll do all right. By raw I mean unpasteurised, unheated in any way, un-radiated, unadulterated. Just fresh produce recently harvested.<br/><br/>So fresh produce should be the bulk of your diet. If you can’t see yourself eating a lot of fresh produce, then I suggest you invest in a food dehydrator. That dries fresh food without losing the nutrients in them. Have you ever tried dried strawberries? They are absolutely delicious.<br/><br/>I’m sure you’ll enjoy making your own un-sundried tomatoes, too.<br/><br/>And try foods you haven’t tried before. My neighbour has never tried avocado and yet they could grow in her back yard. Be adventurous!<br/><br/>The next biggest food group is the nuts, seeds, rice, oats and yoghurt<br/><br/>Then come eggs, bread, wheat, cereal, fish, chicken, chocolate.<br/><br/>Then comes the red meat.<br/><br/>Lastly comes artificial sweeteners. My suggestion is to avoid these altogether.<br/><br/>This diet follows the 80/20 principle. Eat 80% alkalising foods (fruit, veggies, whole foods) and only 20% acid food (meat, sugar, processed foods such as white bread, white pasta, white rice, sweets).<br/><br/>If you maintain this diet, it’s amazing what ailments won’t affect you. Make sure 100% of what you eat goes into keeping you healthy, not just alive. And let the doctors starve!<br/><br/>Another really important aspect of natural health is your health care modality. Obviously that’s going to be a natural one. Which you choose is a very personal matter. But I suggest you remain open and honour your feelings. Your feelings will always take you in the right direction. I have long since learnt the folly of following my head over my feelings. Wine, for centuries, has been considered as a remedy rather than a toxin. In America, for a whole generation, mainly following the Prohibition years, the potential health benefits of red wine were denied. But, in 1991, the medicinal properties of wine begin to return when the French Paradox was publicly revealed following a closed scrutiny on the diet of people in Southern France. It was found out that they had a much lower rate of heart disease than in America notwithstanding their intake of high proportion of fatty foods.
